Bay Cruise + Muir Woods & Sausalito Tour is a half-day adventure that combines towering redwoods, seaside town charm, and a narrated 60-minute cruise across the San Francisco Bay. This shared experience is built for travelers who want both nature and iconic water views in one amazing journey.
From city landmarks to Wine Country and redwood forests, we create unforgettable tours. Fill out the form and our team will help you plan your perfect adventure.
Discover Northern California through a thoughtfully planned small-group journey built around comfort, scenery, local culture, and iconic views from both forest and water.
The experience begins with a scenic ride across the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County, where you’ll stop at the northern Vista Point for wide, cinematic photos of the bridge and Bay. This viewpoint offers one of the best photography angles on the Marin side.
Next, you’ll explore Muir Woods National Monument, home to coastal redwood trees ranging from 400 to over 1,200 years old. You’ll walk the most visited boardwalk route, shaded and peaceful, following the path alongside Redwood Creek. The park interior contains forest views only. There are no ocean lookouts inside Muir Woods. Coastal mist is common and part of the atmosphere, especially in the morning.
Wildlife sightings may include deer, squirrels, and chipmunks near the forest floor and along the creek banks.
After Muir Woods, the tour continues to Sausalito, a Mediterranean-style waterfront village known for its artistic culture, boutique shopping, gallery lanes, cozy cafés, marina views, and its long scenic promenade facing the Bay. Guests enjoy one hour of free time to walk, take photos, shop, or enjoy lunch on their own if they choose.
The final portion of the tour is the 60-minute narrated Bay Cruise operated by the historic and well-known Blue & Gold Fleet. The cruise sails under the Golden Gate Bridge, circles Alcatraz Island, passes Pier 39 sea lions, and returns to Pier 41. Live narration highlights landmarks including Alcatraz, Bay Bridge, Angel Island, and Marin Headlands.

Quick answers about pickup, timing, Muir Woods, Sausalito free time, and Bay Cruise logistics (Pier 41).
Plan for about 5 to 6 hours total, including driving time and the cruise. Typical flow is morning pickup, a Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point photo stop, an 80-minute walk in Muir Woods, 1 hour in Sausalito, then a 60-minute Bay Cruise from Pier 41 (round trip).
Hotel pickup and drop off in San Francisco is optional. Pickups are typically from Downtown San Francisco and Fisherman’s Wharf areas. Your booking confirmation will specify your pickup window and details, or your meeting point if you choose not to use hotel pickup.
This is a shared small-group experience with a maximum of 14 guests, designed to keep the pace comfortable while still covering Muir Woods, Sausalito, and the Bay Cruise in one half-day itinerary.
You’ll have about 80 minutes in Muir Woods, focused on the main boardwalk trail beside Redwood Creek. It’s a shaded, peaceful walk through coastal redwoods. The park interior is forest-focused, so expect redwoods and creek scenery rather than ocean lookouts.
You do not need to arrange a parking reservation because you are not driving yourself. Any entry fee or reservation requirements that apply to your booking will be clarified in your confirmation. If you have questions about what is included for your date, message us before travel day and we will confirm.
You’ll have about 1 hour at the Sausalito waterfront. Most guests use this time to walk the promenade, browse small shops and galleries, grab a coffee, or enjoy a quick bite on their own.
Yes, the 60-minute narrated Bay Cruise is included. It is operated by Blue & Gold Fleet and boards at Pier 41, then returns to Pier 41. The route typically features iconic water views like the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, plus major Bay landmarks along the way.
Multilingual audio options onboard include English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese.
No. Lunch or meals are not included. Sausalito is your best window for a snack or quick meal, and you can also pick up food before boarding the cruise if you prefer.
Transportation after the Bay Cruise returns to Pier 41 is not included. Pier 41 is in the Fisherman’s Wharf area, so many guests walk, use rideshare or take local transit depending on where they are staying.
This tour is not wheelchair accessible. It is stroller accessible, and the Muir Woods portion follows the main boardwalk route. If you have mobility concerns, message us before booking so we can help set expectations for walking surfaces and timing.
Dress in layers and bring a light jacket. Muir Woods can feel cool and misty in the morning, and the Bay can be breezy on open-air decks. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Bring a small day bag, your camera, and anything you want for Sausalito shopping time. Bottled water is provided in the vehicle.
Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the tour start time.
